Mike Bell
Mike is the Executive Director and chief mobilizer for church engagement.
I previously worked full-time as a Pastor in Utah, but through a time of study, introspection, and theological recalibration, decided I wanted to help churches connect with partners in the developing world to do locally appropriate compassion projects (relief and development). This ultimately led to the creation of Healing Nations.
My wife and I have been married since 1993, we have three children and two grandchildren. Utah is home.
I’m passionate about seeing the church increase its reputation as a force for compassion, as part of a wholistic Gospel expression that loves global neighbors and provides critical discipleship opportunities for North Americans.
Dana Snyder
Dana is the Director of Team Engagement and works in the Staff Care department of Healing Nations. She plans travel and logistics for our teams and leads a team once a year.
I first felt called to ministry in 2008 when our Executive Director, Mike Bell, and I started to have conversations about direct church engagement in the developing world. The formation of this ministry resulted from years of learning, growing, and desiring to follow God obediently into international compassion and equipping local churches to flourish in their involvement.
I have been married to my husband, Matt, since 2004, and we have two boys we’ve raised in the beautiful mountains of Utah. We are joyfully involved in our church family and enjoy spending time outdoors and in our community.
What I love about the work I get to do with Healing Nations is that I can take the guesswork out of international ministry logistics and travel and enable churches and team members to build relationships with those in the developing world while not worrying about the pains of international travel. My hope is that, through our ministry, churches are growing in their obedience and joy for God’s work across the nations.
Zak Harris
Zak is the Director of Operations for Healing Nations, overseeing the organization’s operations to support and equip our staff to succeed in their roles.
In 2011, I participated in a 6-week to trip to the Middle East where I first felt a sense of God calling me into ministry. Shortly after returning, I was first introduced to Healing Nations in 2012 when they helped our church travel to Guatemala to begin developing a long-term partnership. During our initial trip, I got to experience directly, the aim of the work Healing Nations does: life-transformation catalyzed through the relationships built during a short-term missions trip. In 2014, I joined staff with Healing Nations because I was eager to facilitate and enable other churches to experience what I had.
My wife and I have been married since 2011 and we have 3 daughters. I’m a girl-dad through and through and have nearly forgotten how to throw a baseball at this point! While we live in the Midwest, my heart will always have a longing to return to my origins in the mountain west to bask in the glories of God’s goodness and majesty revealed in rising mountain peaks.
I am so grateful that I get to play even a small part in mobilizing and equipping the church for greater and wiser engagement in the Great Commission.
Laura Hulse
Laura is the Director of Finance for Healing Nations.
My journey started a few years back when my eyes were opened to a world that I had never considered; a world filled with people who were starving not only physically, but also spiritually. I began to see that Jesus was the answer to both problems. Having a complete shift in my worldview, my husband, Ray, and I decided to devote our time to missions and found a perfect fit with Healing Nations where we can use our administrative & discipling gifts both stateside and overseas.
We have raised 3 sons and a daughter together and now have 4 grandchildren who we love spending time with. We live in beautiful Savannah, GA, where we enjoy spending time outdoors, enjoying natures, as well as running and cycling.
I am passionate about working in finance because I can take what most consider to be mundane and use my organization and number crunching to the glory of God. It is a privilege as well to lead teams and see how God works in those going on the trip as well as those we are serving in other communities. I really feel blesses as I get to do this!
Jenni Duncan
Jenni is the Director of Medical Missions for Healing Nations and the founder of the Sanando Naciones Medical Ministry Center in Santo Tomás, Guatemala.
I have been a registered nurse for over 20 years and felt called from a young age to share God’s love with others through medical missions. Early in our marriage, God led my husband and I to Mozambique where we served as missionaries among the Makuwa people. That season instilled in us a passion to equip short-term teams for long-term, Christ-centered impact. In 2014, God brought us to Healing Nations, where we could continue the calling He had placed on our hearts, but this time in Guatemala.
My husband, Corey, and I met in college and have been married for over 20 years. We are blessed with three wonderful children and consider it a joy to serve God together with Healing Nations.
I am deeply passionate about providing excellent, compassionate, and safe health care, while reflecting Christ’s love and reminding patients that God is the true healer.
Corey Duncan
Corey serves as the Guatemala Missions Mobilizer. He coordinates medical and compassion teams from the U.S., connecting them with our ministry partners in Guatemala.
I first felt called to ministry in college after spending a summer in Italy serving alongside missionaries who cared for refugees. It was that experience that set the course for my life, leading my wife and I to serve as missionaries in Mozambique from 2006 to 2008. When we returned to the U.S., I felt a call to help connect churches here with the work God was doing around the world. From that calling, God led me to join Healing Nations, where I now have the privilege of connecting people to God’s global mission.
My beautiful wife and I met in college and have been married for 20 years. We have three children and are blessed to be able to serve God together with Healing Nations.
I am passionate about the work I do because I get to see the lives of people transformed as they participate in the global mission of God.
Suzy Wiebe
Suzy Wiebe leads teams for Healing Nations and helps plan trips for teams as a Team Engagement staff.
As a Team Leader and Trip Planner for Healing Nations, I get to help churches and volunteers prepare for mission trips that build lasting global partnerships. I love guiding teams through the journey–from planning and logistics to serving alongside local partners on the field.
I first felt God’s call to missions during a trip to Haiti in 2012. That experience not only deepened my passion for cross-cultural ministry but also led me and my husband, Andy, to adopt two of our four beautiful children from Haiti.
When I’m not coordinating trips or leading teams, I enjoy hiking Utah’s beautiful mountain trails with my dog, Daisy, and spending time outdoors with my family.
Shannon Wampler
Shannon is one of our Team Engagement staff. She helps to plan the trips for medical teams.
Before coming to work with Healing Nations, I was a stay-at-home mom who did a lot of volunteer work in my community. Part of that work was helping Healing Nations set up for their annual fundraising banquet. I have always felt drawn to volunteering and serving others. When my daughter left for college in the fall of 2017, I was left with a huge gap of time to fill. I felt God’s calling to utilize my time and love of serving to come on staff at Healing Nations. Answering that call has been one of the best things I have ever done! Not only have I grown close friendships with those I work with, but my relationship with God has grown through listening to his calling to reflect Christ’s love by serving others.
My husband Aaron and I have been married since 1997, we have raised a daughter and a son, and are excited for them as we step away from active parenting and get to watch what God is doing in growing them into the adults He wants them to be. We are also stepping into a new role as in-laws and are excited to see our family grow! We love to travel and see God’s handiwork in all the places we have visited.
What I love about the work I do is I get to combine my love for travel and planning with my love for serving others as Christ has asked us to do in Matthew 25:35-40 – “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was sick and you visited me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Shane Bennett
Shane Bennett serves Healing Nations as our Unreached People Advocate, encouraging the organization to look toward the ends of the earth, particularly those ends inhabited by Muslims.
I have served in a part-time capacity with Healing Nations since 2019. I came to Healing Nations from a long career in missions mobilization, speaking, and writing. I was drawn to Healing Nations by the organization’s commitment to God’s kingdom purposes and the close-knit staff.
I live in southern Colorado with my wife Anna and our three middle and high school kiddos. I also have five older kids now living across the country. In addition to my role at Healing Nations, I am the pastor of Table Mountain Church.
My passion for the work I do with Healing Nations is fired by a desire to see God’s kingdom come in its fullness as Jesus redeems lives, families, communities, cities, countries, and the cosmos!
Shawnda Ussery
Shawnda is the EMR and Clinic Coordinator for Medical Missions. She oversees the development and maintenance of the electronic medical record system (EMR) and ensures smooth clinic operations during Jornadas in Guatemala.
My journey into medical missions began in 2017 when a friend introduced me to Healing Nations. After thoughtful prayer, I joined my first trip in 2018 and have never looked back! Since then, I’ve become a vital part of the team, serving the people of Guatemala with love, prayer, and a healing touch.
Outside of work, I am a proud dog mom to two mischievous pups, an avid camper and hiker, and the self-proclaimed favorite aunt to two nieces. My life is a blend of adventure, service, and heart–and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
For me, each mission trip is a reminder of why I became a nurse: to make a difference and to reflect God’s love in tangible ways.
Amanda Aguilar
Amanda serves as the Medical Manager for our Healing Nations clinics in Guatemala. She oversee the medical team on the ground and leads our Tuesday and Thursday follow-up clinics.
I first connected with Healing Nations after returning from the World Race at the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022. The connection was made through a ministry host I had previously worked with in Guatemala. I had always desired to combine my nursing skills with ministry, so when this opportunity came up, it truly felt like a dream come true. After much prayer, joining a short-term trip with Healing Nations, and watching God open the right doors, I stepped into the Medical Manager role in 2023. It has been such a blessing to be a part of a Christ-centered organization and to use my gifts for God’s glory.
I currently live in Houston, Texas with my husband, Tymon. We met on the World Race in 2021 and have been married since March 2023. We share a deep heart for missions and love all things Jesus, coffee, and travel. Friends often describe us as “old souls,” mostly because we appreciate simple joys, deep chats, and consistently doing things that are decidedly not cool for our age!
What I love most about my work with Healing Nations is that I get to combine my passion for nursing with God’s Great Commission. Our team has such a heart to provide excellent, safe, and compassionate care for each patient, and I love walking alongside them in that. I also find so much joy in encouraging our team and loving them well. I truly believe that some of the best leadership comes from caring for your team and consistently pointing them back to Christ. I’m grateful that God has entrusted me with the opportunity to do that in this role.
Ray Hulse
Ray is the Sanando Naciones Facilities Manager. He oversees the maintenance, safety, and operations of the Medical Ministry Center in Guatemala.
My wife, Laura, and I have always had a heart for missions. We began by actively pursuing opportunities to serve in short-term overseas trips, even considering the possibility of long-term ministry in Haiti. Over the years, we’ve been blessed to participate in missions trips to Haiti, Mexico, and most recently Guatemala. Along that journey, we were introduced to Mike Bell and Healing Nations. The vision of Healing Nations deeply resonated with us–using our gifts and skills to help churches, both in developing countries and the US, to thrive through God’s healing, both spiritually and physically.
Laura and I have 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. We live in Savannah, GA where we enjoy the history, Southern culture, and the beach. You will most likely find us outdoors cycling or running (when she makes me), at the beach, exploring Savannah, or just enjoying some front or back porch sittin’.
I’m passionate about this work because it connects my heart for missions with real, tangible impact. Every opportunity to serve reminds me that God’s love changes lives, and being part of that process is both humbling and deeply rewarding.
Pat & Robin Pugh
Pat & Robin are the hosts of the Sanando Naciones guesthouse in Santo Tomas, Guatemala. Robin is a registered nurse and serves weekly in the clinic.
Pat is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, and he served as lead pastor in three church for over four decades in Pennsylvania. Robin is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and has served as associate, women’s, and children’s pastor. She also has over fifty years of experience serving in the nursing field as a registered nurse and is a certified counselor through the American Association of Christian Counselors.
Beginning in 2024, I (Robin) began volunteering with Healing Nations. Near the closing of the Jornada, I was encouraged by Healing Nations Director of Medical Missions to pray together with Pat, and consider becoming guest house hosts for the new medical clinic scheduled to open in January 2025. After praying, we were thrilled to become a part of the Healing Nations family.
In April 2025, we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary! We have four children and eight beautiful grandchildren! Pat’s passion, as a pastor and now as a guest house host, is to assist/help people in finding Jesus and His love and purpose for their lives. Robin’s calling is to share her gifts and spread the love of Christ to those to whom God has called us!”
Laurie Maaz-Luther
Laurie coordinates patient schedules for the medical clinic in Guatemala, supporting three, week-long medical outreaches each year as well as ongoing weekly follow-up appointments.
I sensed God’s call to missions as a junior high student while listening to a missionary at my home church in California. That calling led me to serve nineteen years in inner-city Los Angeles, where I met my husband, Selvin, and where our three children were born. In 2009, our family moved to Guatemala to serve in theological education, church planting, and helps ministries.
I first connected with Healing Nations through a call for translators. At the time, our middle son was in his final year of high school and planning to pursue a career in the medical field. I asked if he would be interested in volunteering as a translator for a medical outreach. That week proved life-changing for him and deeply impactful for our entire family. He was so moved that he urged both his younger brother and me to serve at the next medical outreach in July 2022. I haven’t missed a jornada since! As we’ve become empty nesters in 2024, I have devoted more time to Healing Nations in administrative roles.
I cherish serving as a bridge between our medical team and the community we love, helping facilitate care that brings both practical help and lasting hope.
Rudy de León
Rudy is Healing Nations Compassion Ministry Coordinator, focusing on social outreach, group facilitation, and logistical coordination for out-of-town groups.
I was part of Fuente de Esperanza and Galilea Church from 2011 to 2024, working in logistics, purchasing groceries, providing social assistance, maintaining the schools, construction, and managing out-of-town groups. In April 2025, God and Healing Nations opened the doors for me to join their team working with compassion groups. My strong friendships with the staff were also a great help in joining Healing Nations.
I have been married since 2014 to Libna Simón since 2014 and have two daughters.
What attracted me to Healing Nations was the way the ministry helps people through its clinics and also because they share the Word of God without exception, because our duty, besides serving people, is to proclaim the Word of God!
